Sothoris/Domus Omnium Mortuorum/Fetzner Death Records/ADG Records/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Sothoris  are  a  band  from  Poland  that  has  had  music reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Domus  Omnium  Mortuorum"  which  will  be  released  in  October  as  a  joint  effort  between  Fetzner  Death  and  AOG  Records.

  Field  recordings  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  blast  beats.  Death  metal  growls  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  some  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  spoken  words  and  clear  singing.

  Melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffs  they  also  give  the  album  more  of  a  raw  feeling  along  with  the  solos  and  leads  bringing  in  more  of  a  90's  extreme  metal  style,  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  briefly  and  a  couple  of  tracks  are  also  long  and  epic  in  length.

  On  this  recording  Sothoris  goes  for  more  of  a  modern  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Polish  and  cover  human  wickedness  and  the  spirits  of  the  dead.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Sothoris  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Wieczornca"  "Bylem  Faustem'  and  "Pietno".  8  out  of  10.

Fiat Noctum/Insinuant/2025 EP Review

 

  Fiat  Noctum  are  a  duo  from  Sweden  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  goes  for  a  very  raw  and  old  school  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  ep  "Insinuant".

  A  very  dark  sounding  intro  starts  off  the  ep  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  melodies  are  also  added  into  some  of  guitar  riffing.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear a   good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  to  early  2000's  era  of  the  genre.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along with  some  deeper  vocals  also  being  used  briefly  and  one  track  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  acoustic  guitars.

  On  this  recording  Fiat  Noctum  brings  out  more  of  a  raw  and  old  school  style  of  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  Swedish  and  cover  human  decomposition  and  the  slow  process  of  death.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Fiat  Noctum  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  raw  and  old  school  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Insektsfauna"  and  "Manniskovalvets  Sekret".  8  out  of  10.

Hadopelagyal/Haematophoryktos/Amor Fati Productions/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Hadopelaygal  are  a  band  form  Germany  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  on  this  recording  plays  a  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2025  album  "Haematophoryktos"  which  will  be  released  on  September  19th  by  Amor  Fati  Productions.

  A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  utilizes  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking,  blast  beats  and  war  metal  elements.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  mixes  in  with  a  few  death  metal  growls.

  All  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the album  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  some  of  the  riffing  also  adds  in  a  small  amount  of  dark  sounding  melodies.  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  and  the  closing  track  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  adds  in  a  brief  use  of  synths.

  On  this  recording  Hadopelaygal  brings  out  a  very  fast  and  aggressive  mixture  of  war,  black  and  death  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  death  and  occultism  themes.  

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hadopelatgal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  war,  black  and  death  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Swarthseleniasmos"  "Amidst  Unending  Twilights  Unheeded,  Bearing  Neither  Lustre  nor  name"  and  "Halios  Enthroned  In  Hyperdiluvina  Kataklysmos".  8  out  of  10.

Hangatyr/Sumpf der Fäule/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Germany's  Hangatyr  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  a  pagan  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2025  album  "Sumpf  der Fäule"  which  will  be  released  in  October.

  Epic  sounding  synths  start  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  the  harsh  vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  blast  beats  are  also  utilized  when  the  music  speeds  up.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  fast  riffs  they  also  give  the  album  more  of  a r aw  feeling  while  the  riffing  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  melody.  Throughout  the  album  you  can  also  hear  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  along  with  the  music  also  being  very  heavily  influenced  by  the  mid  90's  Nordic  era  of  the  genre,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  the  closing  track  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  clean  playing.

  On  this  recording  Hangatyr  brings  out   a  very  raw,  aggressive  and  melodic  style  of  pagan  black  metal.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  are  written  in  German  and  cover  Norse  Mythology.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hangatyr  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  pagan  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Sumpf  der  Fäule"  and  "Dämmerung".  8  out  of  10.

Raventale/CDXXII Thousand Years Of Crime And Murders/Ashen Dominion/2025 Full Length Review

 

  Ukraine's  solo  project  Raventale  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  atmospheric,  old  school  and  symphonic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2025  album  "CDXXII  Thousand  Years  Of  Crime  And  Murders"  which  was  released  by  Ashen  Dominion.

  Acoustic  guitars  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  atmospheric  sounding  synths  a  few  seconds  later  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  The  recording  also  has  its  symphonic  moments  and  the  faster  sections  of  the  tracks  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

 Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  tremolo  picking  in  the  fast  riffs  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  as  well  as  the  album  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.

  A  lot  of  the  recording  is  also  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  mid  90's  era  and  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  finally  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  as  well  as  one  track  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  spoken  words,  classical  guitars  are  also added  on  the  closing  song  which  id  also  an  instrumental.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  humanity's  destructive  legacy.

  A  very  dark  yet  ritualistic  sound  starts  off  the  album  along  with  some  demonic  voices  a  few  seconds  later  before  going  into  a  heavier  direction.  When  the  music  speeds  up  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast b eats  can  be  heard  which  also  gives  the  recording  more  of  a  raw  feeling  and  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  A  very  fast  and  raw  sound  stars  off  the  album  along  with  a  great  amount  of  tremolo  picking  and  blast  beats.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  the  music  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  era  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Spoken  words  can  also  be  heard  on  a  couple  of  tracks  and  add  in  a  ritualistic  vibe  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  also  remain  true  to  an  old  school  style  and  the  whole  album  sticks  to  a  heavier  direction.

  Dunes  Of  Ash  plays  a  style  of  black  metal  that  is  very  heavily  rooted  in  the  90's  old  school  tradition.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  Devil  Worship  and  the  corruption  of  the  Seven  Sisters.

  In  my  opinion  Dunes  of  Ash  are  a  very  great  sounding  old  school  and  orthodox  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "The  Eye  Of  The  Seraphic  Void"  and  "The  Mortal's  Shame".  8  out  of  10.
