Mutilation Rites are a band from New York that plays a very raw form of black metal with some elements of punk and doom metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Chasm" which was released by Gilead Media.
Distorted amp noises start off the album before going into a very fast musical direction which also introduces blast beats onto the recording while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with some death metal growls also being used at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the tremolo picking gives the songs more of a raw feeling along with the riffs also bringing in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies as well as most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and as the album progresses elements of doom metal and punk can be heard.
Mutilation Rites plays a style of black metal that is very raw and Americanized while the hardcore punk, death and doom metal elements gives the songs more originality, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the darkest shades of black and absolute dread.
In my opinion Mutilation Rites are a very great sounding raw black metal band with elements of punk, death and dark doom metal and if you are looking for something different, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pieced Larynx" and "Putrid Decomposition". 8 out of 10.
