Suffering not to be confused with the bands from Poland and Norway of the same name are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their self released album "11".
Ritualistic gongs start off the album before going into a very fast and melodic musical direction which also introduces blast beats onto the recording while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs a more raw feeling while the slower sections of the songs are very heavily influenced by doom metal along with the music also bringing in some 80's and 90's influences without sounding outdated as well as some death metal growls being added into certain sections of the recording, some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and one song also introduces acoustic guitars onto the recording and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they give the music more of a retro feeling and as the album progresses more depressive elements are added onto the recording.
Suffering plays a musical style that mixes a lot of different types of black metal together with elements of doom metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Suffering are a very great sounding mixture of black and doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Releasing The Eleven" "Conjuration Through Black Horns" and "Rebirth Through Cursed Dirt". 8/5 out of 10.
