Mortuus Caelum/Ad Libertatem Per Mortem/War Productions/2012 CD Review

Mortuus Caelum are a band from Greece that had on of their split albums reviewed before by this zine that plays a very raw and primitive form of satanic/hellenic black metal with a melodic edge and this is a review of their 2012 album "Ad Libertatem Mortem" which was released by War Productions.

Drums range from mid paced to fast playing with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they sound powerful.

Rhythm guitars range from mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with some dark sounding melodies being thrown in at times mixed in with some riffing that has a very traditional and thrash metal feeling to them as well as a brief use of clean and soft playing and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are a mixture of hateful, grim and high pitched black metal screams while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Christian, War, Occultism, Inuit and Greek Mythology, as for the production it has a very raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion this is another great album from Mortuus Caelum and if you are a fan of their previous releases, you should enjoy this one as well. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bloodshed" "Amarok(The Wolf God)" "Typhon" and "Under A Dead Sky". RECOMMENDED BUY.
