Anu are a band from North Carolina that plays a very atmospheric, nature orientated form of black metal and this is a review of their 2010 album "Opus Funearum" which was released by Graveless Slumber Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding black metal riffs and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording with the songs not either being too long short.
Vocals a re mostly high pitched and grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with some clean female signing and spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover Winter, Nature, Darkness, Satanism and Anti Christian themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Anu are a very great sounding nature orientated, atmospheric, raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Sorowful Funeral Night" "Return To The Realms Of The Blackfrost" and "Nachtmusik". RECOMMENDED BUY.
