Bloodthrone are a band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a very fast, raw and primitive from of black metal with a death metal edge and this is a review of their 2000 album "Storms Of Apocalypse" which was released by Forever Underground Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and at times they have a very powerful sound to them, as for the synths they are only utilized on the outro and bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very heavy, raw and primitive sounding with a good amount of death metal influences being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very chaotic sounding black/death metal guitar solos and leads that utilize some traditional metal sounding melodies at times.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams mixed in with some deep death metal growls and samples, while the lyrics cover Darkness, War and Egyptian themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Bloodthrone are a very great sounding fast, heavy, raw and primitive black metal band with a death metal edge and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bloodthrone" "Mummification" and "Mayhem Upon The Heavens". RECOMMENDED BUY.
