This is a review of a split ep between Russia's People Are Mechanisms and Morodth called "Lost In Life" which was released by III Rooks Records and we will start of the review with People Are Mechanisms which plays depressive black metal.
Drums are slow to mid paced drumming with no fast playing or blast beats, while the sound effects bring a very dark avant garde ambient sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars have a depressive and drone style depressive black metal approach to them ranging from slow to mid paced riffs with some dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing and there are little to no guitar solos or leads present on t heir side of the recording.
Vocals which are mixed down low in the mix are depressive and grim sounding suicidal black metal screams, while the song themes cover darkness and depression, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion People Are Mechanisms are a very great sounding depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their music. RECOMMENDED TRACK " Empty Midnight Sheets". RECOMMENDED.
Next up is Morodth another band that plays a depressive form of black metal.
Drums range from slow to mid paced drumming with not much in the way of fast blast playing or blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the synths they bring a very depressing and dark ambient sound to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow to mid paced depressive black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some clean playing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding guitar leads that have an early 90's doom/death metal feeling to them, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized they use finger picking and full chords to enhance the darkness that is coming out of the music.
Vocals are mostly high pitched depressive black metal screams with a brief use of deeper vocals, while the lyrics cover depressing themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Morodth are a very great sounding depressive black metal band with the best music on this split and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their songs. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Desperation". RECOMMENDED.
In conclusion this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of depressive black metal. RECOMMENDED BUY.
