Flagellant are a band from Sweden that plays a very dark, raw and primitive form of satanic occult black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "Maledictum" which was released by W.T.C productions.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars and a t times they have a very powerful sound to them, as for the sound effects which are used between each song they bring a very dark, ritualistic and occult feeling to the album.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding with some melody being thrown into the riffing at times with one of the songs having a death metal feeling to them and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all hateful sounding black metal screams with the last song having a spoken word ritualistic part, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Occult themes, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Flagellant are a very great sounding dark, melodic, heavy, raw and primitive satanic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "From The Abyss The Shine" "Necromantic Revelations" and "Rousing The Serpent". RECOMMENDED BUY.
