Mollehoj are a band from t he United States that plays a very esoteric, atmospheric, raw and primitive form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled and self released 2013 demo.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being used at times, while the cello, violin and piano brings a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding while also capturing a dark atmosphere and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals range from high pitched black metal screams to clean singing, while the lyrics cover eco friendly and anarchist themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the only song on this recording being over 42 minutes long.
In my opinion Mollehoj are a very great sounding atmospheric, raw and primitive sounding black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED BUY.
