Witchking are a band from the U.K that has been featured in this zine under their new name Wytchfilth with the musical style on this recording being atmospheric, raw and primitive sounding black metal and this is a review of their self released demo compilation "2003-2009".
Drums programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats, while the synths bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding in the old school tradition while also mixing in depressive elements as well as a small amount of traditional metal elements in the riffing, while the lead guitars which are only used briefly are very dark, melodic, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams that have a depressive tone to them at times, while the lyrics cover dark, depressing, anti christian and occult topics, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with a couple of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding compilation from Witchking and if you are a fan of raw and primitive black metal, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Slaughter The Sons Of Jehova" "Kingdom Of God In Ruins" "Mt Blood, Blood Of Ancients" and "Cut Deeper, Weaklings". RECOMMENDED BUY.
