This is a review of a split album between Oregon's Chernobog and Willowbrook which was released in 2012 by Glosalia Records and we will start off the review with Chernobog a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw and primitive from of blasphemous black metal with elements of noise.
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats that are as brutal as a real drum kit, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding with some noisy distortion and dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very noisy, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with elements of harsh noise as well as some deep demonic growls, while the lyrics cover violent, war, darkness and blasphemous themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Chernobog and if you are a fan of noisy, raw and primitive sounding blasphemous black metal, you should check out their side of the recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Demonic Genocide" and "Flaming Inferno". RECOMMENDED BUY.
Next up is Willowbrook a band that plays a very harsh form of noise with black metal influences.
Sound effects are all harsh noise sounds with some brutal sounding power electronics, while the vocals are very demonic sounding bring the black metal elements, as for the production it has a very heavy, brutal, raw and primitive sound to it with their onlsy song being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Willowbrook are a very great sounding heavy and brutal harsh noise/power electronics band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the recording. RECOMMENDED.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of primitive black metal and harsh noise. RECOMMENDED BUY.
