Galaktik Cancer Squad are a band from Germany that plays a very atmospheric and instrumental form of progressive black metal and this is a review of their 2011 album "Eroberer" which was released by Hypnotic Dirge Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the synths bring a very dark atmospheric, psychedelic and progressive sound to the recording with some elements of electronic music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that range from primitive, melodic to progressive to create a sound of their own while also mixing in influences from other genre of music, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding progressive metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals and song writing are all absent from this recording with the music being all instrumental except for some spoken word parts, while the song themes cover space and time, as for the production it has a very strong, powerful, dark and heavy sound to it with the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Galaktik Cancer Squad are a very great sounding instrumental, atmospheric, progressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unleash & Expand" "Eroberer" and "Durch Raum und Zeit". RECOMMENDED BUY.
