Nameless Coyote are a 1 man band from San Francisco, California that plays a mixture of black metal, shoegaze and post rock and this is a review of their self released 2011 ep "Devoured By The Swirling Night".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times, while the synths bring a very dark, atmospheric, post rock and shoegaze sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine primitive sounding black metal with shoegaze and post rock together to create a sound of t heir own as well as mixing in some melody, soft and clean playing in the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding post black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilzied they use full chords to add more post rock elements to the ep.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams with some clean singing being used at times, while the lyrics cover darkness and nature themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Nameless Coyote are a very great sounding hybrid of black metal, post rock and shoegaze and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Tastes Like Snow". RECOMMENDED BUY.
