Percht are a 1 man band from Belgium that plays a very grim and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "The Aftermath Of A Velvet Season" which was released by Achtuung.
Drum programming ranges from slow, mid paced to fast beats which sets a perfect atmosphere for the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs with primitive elements and melody to create a sound of their own, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding atmospheric black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars they use finger picking and full chords to give the music a medieval feeling.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams with some spoken word parts being used at times as well as some clean singing in addition there is a brief use of whispers, while the lyrics cover darkness, nature, and philosophical themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Percht are a very great sounding raw and primitive, atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Peculiar Philosophies" "Earth As A Wave" and "Cremation Of The Wishing Well". RECOMMENDED.
