Sarcalogos are a band from Portland, Oregon that plays a very old school form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "The Cleansing Power Of Flame".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass guitar if used is mixed down very low in the mix and hard to hear with the music being more guitar driven.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding along with some melody, thrash and punk influences being thrown into the riffing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams that have a very depressive tone to them at times as well as a small amount of deeper vocals, while the lyrics cover Satanism, Suicide, Drugs, Alcohol and Strippers, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Sarcalogos are a very great sounding old school satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pray. Worship. Burn" and "Bleed Thy Servant". RECOMMENDED BUY.
