Sutekh Hexen are a band from California that plays a mixture of raw black metal and drone and this is a review of their 2012 ep "Shadows" which was released by Holy Terror.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music, while the sound effects bring elements of drone to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine very raw and primitive sounding black metal with drone/noise music to create a sound of their own and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover violent and dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the ep being only 6 minutes.
In my opinion are Sutekh Hexen are a very great sounding hybrid of raw black metal, drone and noise and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby Standing In The Shadows". RECOMMENDED BUY.
