This is the final review of a recording from Walden with the musical style being melodic and atmospheric sounding Cascadian black metal with elements of folk music with the ep being self released in 2012 and called "Metchosin".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being utilized at times along with some tribal sounding hand drums, while the flutes being a very dark and medieval sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffing that dominates throughout the recording.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive with some melody being thrown into the riffing at times as well as some post rock elements and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars they use finger picking and full chords to bring the folk metal elements to the ep.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams with some deeper vocals and spoken word ritualistic parts being used at times, while the lyrics cover nature and solitude themes, as for the production it has a very heavy, raw and primitive sound to it while you can still hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Walden and if you are a fan of atmospheric Cascadian black metal mixed with elements of folk music, you should check out this e.p. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Golden Light Broke Over The Waves" and "Every Star Called Our Names". RECOMMENDED BUY.
