When Woods Make Graves are a 1 man band from England that plays a very atmospheric and ambient form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2012 ep "The Forest That Will Eclipse The Sky".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being used at times, while the synths bring a very atmospheric and dark ambient sound to the recording, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that utilize some raw and primitive sounding elements, melody and ambient influences to create a sound of their own as well as a brief use of soft and clean playing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding atmospheric black metal guitar solos and leads.
Vocals are all grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover nature, mysticism and mythology, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with t he songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion When Woods Make Graves are a very great sounding ambient, atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this e.p. RECOMMENDED TRACK "From The Waves". RECOMMENDED BUY.
