Auspicium are a 1 man band from Maine that plays a mixture of atmospheric black metal and post rock with elements of folk music as well as doom metal and this is a review of their self released 2011 demo "Hope Is All You Have".
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that are coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast atmospheric black metal riffs that utilize some raw and primitive sounding elements at times as well as some melody, doom metal and post rock influences to create a sound of their own, while the lead guitars when they are utilized are very melodic and atmospheric sounding post black metal guitar solos and leads, as for the acoustic guitars when they are utilized use finger picking and full chords to add elements of folk music to the demo.
Vocals range from grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams to deep growls and clean singing as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover nature themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound with some of the songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion Auspicium are a very great sounding atmospheric post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "For Those Who Seek The Waves" and "Judgement". RECOMMENDED BUY.
