Cvinger are a band from Slovenia that plays a very blasphemous and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 ep "Monastery of Fallen".
"Chapter One: Into The Depths Of Arcane Sanctuary" starts off with the sounds of thunder before going into a classical guitar piece which utilizes finger picking and full chords to set up the introduction for the album.
"Blaspherion" finishes the classical guitar parts and goes into fast and primitive guitar riffs, blast beats and grim sounding black metal screams as well as switching back and forth between mid paced and fast sections throughout the song and only using small amounts of melody.
"Among The Crucified" starts off with melodic chanting before going into a faster and primitive black metal direction with the guitar riffs, drums and screams and while the song remains all the way throughout their is still some variety in the way of guitar riffing as well as some mid paced sections, the return of chants as well as a brief spoken word part.
"Salvation In The Darkest Wrath" starts off with fast guitar riffs, powerful drums as well as grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams and as the song moves on it starts utilizing mid paced sections and melody as will as some deeper vocals before going back to fast again.
"Chapter Two: Of Ashes And Dust" is another classical guitar piece which opens up the second chapter of the ep.
"In They Kingdom's Shadow" starts off with blast drums, fast and primitive guitar riffing as well as the screams and the music goes for the fast old school black metal sound of the mid 90's while also utilizing some mid paced sections as well as a small amount of death metal influences.
"Monastery Of The Fallen" starts off with heavy and fast guitar riffs, drums and grim vocals while also mixing in some weird elements to the vocals briefly but focusing more on being a fast black metal song and towards the end the music goes into a slower direction briefly before returning to the faster parts and mixing in a mid paced part before closing with the slower riff and deeper vocals.
"Chapter Three: Amen" is all melodic Gregorian chanting which closes the album.
Song lyrics cover blasphemous, misanthropic and dark subjects, while the production has a very heavy, raw and primitive sound with the bass playing being mixed down low in the mix.
In my opinion Cvinger are a very great sounding blasphemous and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Among The Crucified" "Salvation In The Darkest Wrath" and "Monastery Of Fallen". RECOMMENDED BUY.
