Eternal Eclipse are a 1 man band from Eugene, Oregon that plays a depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2013 compilation album which was released by Glossolalia Records.
"A Long Walk Through Desolate Existence" starts off with a slow primitive depressive black metal riff, drum programming and grim sounding suicidal screams as well as some semi powerful bass lines staying in that direction before the riffing goes into a more mid paced direction for a few seconds before reverting back to the slow parts and stay in that direction until the end of the song.
"The Illusion Of Pseudo-Nature" starts off with a slow depressive black metal riff and then the drum programming kicks in as well as the grim screams and at the 2 minute mark the riffing speeds up for a few seconds adding a primitive feeling to the song while slowly return to the slower parts after that while also adding an atmospheric feeling to the music and the song ends in that direction.
"Extinction And Isolation" starts off with some distortion from the amps before the slow black metal riffs and drum programming kick in while also adding a little bit more variety to the riffing and close to the 4 minute mark the screams make their presence known to the song for a few seconds only and then the guitar riffs stick around for a minute until the song closing.
"Intro" is all acoustic guitars that utilize finger picking and chords setting up the mood for the next song.
"Nothingness" starts off with some powerful drum programming, slow depressive black metal riffs and suicidal back metal screams and the song stays in the same direction throughout it's 4 minutes"
"Untitled" starts off with some dark ambient sounding synths and then some tribal sounds come into the music and there are no vocals on the song with the music being all instrumental.
"An Absurd And Ugly World" Starts off with some slow, depressive riffs, and drum programming before the grim screams kick in for some parts and around the 2 minute mark distorted melodies start making their presence in the song and there are on top of the guitar rhythms which also close the song.
"An Absurd And Ugly World (Rehearsal)" is a more primitive and raw version of the previous song while also having a more live feeling to it but lacking the heaviness of the studio version but you can hear and actual drum kit and blast beats which where not present on the recording until now.
Song lyrics on the compilation cover isolation, depression and anti human themes, while the production has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with some of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion Eternal Eclipse are a very great sounding depressive black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A Long Walk Through Desolate Existence" "Extinction And Isolation" and "An Absurd And Ugly World". RECOMMENDED BUY.
