This is the final review of a recording from Twilight Fauna which continues their mixture of folk music and atmospheric black metal with the ep being self titled and self released in 2013.
"Nepenthe (The Elixir)" begins with some spoken word samples and acoustic guitars which utilize both finger picking and full chords and you can hear some melodic clean singing which is mixed down very low and after a minute heavy guitar riffs kick in along with some drums and grim screams which also mix in atmospheric sounds and after a few minutes melodic chants come in behind the heavy guitars and screams
"By Starlight" begins with nature sounds and acoustic guitar playing which utilize both finger picking and full chords along with some percussion and after awhile whispers make their presence known as well as some clean singing with the song being all folk music with no metal being present.
Song lyrics cover nature themes, while the production has a very raw and primitive sound with both songs being long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Twilight Fauna and if you are a fan of folk and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Nepenthe (The Elixir)". RECOMMENDED BUY.
