Sguaguarahchristis are back this time with a new album which shows the band going into a more raw and atmospheric black metal sound and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Der Nacht".
The album starts out with dark nature and ambient sounds before going into a slow depressive black metal direction along with high pitched screams as well as some deeper vocals which after awhile leads to a faster direction along with blast beats as well as mixing mid paced and fast sections together.
As the album continues the band starts bringing in more melody and atmospheric elements to their fast black metal assault along with the vocals getting more grim in sound which also leads to synths being added into the recording which also have an avant garde feeling to them and there is a great amount of brutality present on this recording and on the last song you can hear some melodies coming out of the guitar riffing as well as a small amount of acoustic guitars.
With this album Sguaguarahchristis bring out a different sound than their past recordings while also remaining true to anti human black metal while also adding in more avant garde and atmospheric elements this time around.
Song lyrics are a concept album based on mother night, the death and the mystery of the infinite, while the production has a very heavy, dark, raw and primitive sound to it along with a couple of songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Sguaguarahchristis and if you a fan of raw, atmospheric black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Under the Moon We Are Hunters" "My Sideral Journey" and "Mother Night, Eternal Labyrinth". 8/5 out of 10.
