Thyruz are a band from Norway that plays a very heavy and aggressive form of Norwegian black metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 album "Svik".
The album starts out with dark and distorted viking sounds along with spoken word parts and after the intro the music goes into a more heavier Norwegian black metal direction along with some grim vocals as well as speeding up and adding in blast beats which also leads to a mixture of slow and fast parts and you can also hear some melody in the recording at times as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
As the album moves on the band sticks to a more fast Norwegian black metal direction as well as mixing influences from the 90's to the modern day while having a more raw approach than the previously mentioned as well as keeping around the more slow and melodic sections and at time s they also bring in brief uses of spoken word parts.
While there is not much in the way of originality on this recording, Thyruz still have all of the best elements of Norwegian black metal in their music and all of the songs are very well executed.
Lyrics are written in a mixture of Norwegian and English and cover darkness and holocaust themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and dark sound for beign a self released recording where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this album.
In my opinion Thyruz are a very decent sounding Norwegian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Final Holocaust" and "Darkness Illuminates All". 7/9 out of 10.
