This is a review of another recording from Cara Neir which continues their blackened crust sound while also bringing in elements of sludge, doom, shoegaze and post metal with the ep being self released in 2009 and called "part II".
The ep starts out with an intro that uses guitar amp sounds and programmed beats and after the intro clean playing is brought into the music before going into a slow and heavy direction along with some growls and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music also mixes clean and heavy parts together as well as adding melody into certain sections of the recording.
As the ep progresses the music turns into a mixture of black metal, crust, sludge and doom metal being mixed in with post metal and shoegaze and the music sticks to a slower direction from beginning to end and on the last track synths make their way into the music along with some depressive black metal screams.
With this recording Cara Neir evolved from their raw black metal/crust sound and get a bit more creative while also not having a lot of fast parts look the first ep and they showed a lot of emotion with their music on this recording.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very raw, dark and heavy sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording as well as most of the songs being very long and epic in length.
In my opinion this was another great soundign ep from Cara Neir and if you are a fan of black metal, doom, sludge, crust, post metal and shoegaze, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Program 3380" and "Untouched". 8 out of 10.
