Dawn Of Ruin are a band from Portugal that plays a raw and melodic mixture of black, death and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2014 demo "Poco Da Infamia".
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the demo along with some high pitched black metal screams which leads up to a more fast and raw direction as well as utilizing some blast beats and the band also uses a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and at times you can hear death metal vocals in the bands musical sound.
After awhile elements of dark metal are added into the music along with a small amount of clean playing and the leads bring a very dark, melodic and depressive sound to the music along with a doom metal feeling and the melodies the band uses seem to be influenced by both the Swedish and Greek black metal scenes
The rawer side of the bands musical sound brings in elements of thrash metal. and some of the later tracks the bass guitars start evoking more of a powerful sounding presence and while the first 4 tracks are all recorded in a studio the last 4 are recorded live and display more of a vicious and raw black metal side of their musical sound while still being very melodic all at the same time.
Dawn Of Ruin takes the raw and melodic styles of black metal and combine them with elements of dark metal, death and thrash to create a sound of their own with this demo and the music is heavily rooted in the mid 90's era of underground metal, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are mostly written in their native tongue along with a couple being written in English and they cover dark themes.
In my opinion Dawn Of Ruin are a very great sounding raw and melodic mixture of black, death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Descanso Eterno" "Tetraplegic God" and "Morte Vermelha". 8 out of 10.
