Throne Of Evil are a band from Chile that plays a very dark, raw and misanthropic form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2013 album "Muerte Por Creencias".
Water and nature sounds start off the album before going into a very raw and old school black metal direction along with some melodic pagan vocals which are also use on some of the later tracks as well and chanting as well as a small amount of spoken word parts that are also used later on during the album which also leads to grim screams making their presence on this recording and you can also hear a good amount of melody in the bands musical sound.
Once the music starts getting fast you can hear a decent amount of blast beats in the songs and the band also brings in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as a great amount of melodic black metal influences and the deeper vocals also have a death metal feeling to them at times and there are also a few tracks that are very long and epic in length and on the 3rd track the music goes into more of an instrumental and ambient direction as well as adding in folk instruments which also enhances the pagan feeling this album .
After the instrumental the band returns back to a more rawer black metal direction which also sees the vocals getting more hateful and misanthropic and as the album progresses you can also hear elements of thrash metal in their musical sound along with some powerful sounding bass lines and old school style guitar solos and leads while the following song sees acoustic guitars and more folk music elements being added into the track and after t he song the music really starts getting more raw and grim again.
Throne Of Evil have a very original approach to black metal they can be very raw, grim and evil at times while another side of their musical style shows a more melodic and pagan approach to this genre as well as having a very epic and ritualistic like quality to them, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written mostly in Spanish while a couple of songs are written in English and they cover anti catholic/christian, occult, pagan and and ancient cultures themes.
In my opinion Throne Of Evil are a very great sounding raw, dark and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Selknam" "Wichan Awe" "Throne Of Evil" and "Take This Truth". 8/5 out of 10.
