CAPA are a band from Pennsylvania that plays a very tragic form of black metal with elements of post rock and this is a review of their self released 2014 ep "The Droves"/
Spoken word parts start off the ep along with some synths a few seconds later which leads up to more of a heavier and melodic musical direction along with some high pitched black metal screams and you can also hear element s of sludge and doom metal in the bands musical style and vocals.
There are a lot of post metal traces being presented in all of the tracks and after awhile the music starts adding in a small amount of clean parts/acoustic guitars which make the ep have more of a progressive edge as well as speeding up and adding a small amount of blast beats in certain sections of the recording and they also add in some melodic guitar leads at times and the last song is almost 11 minutes in length and shows a great amount of variety as well as adding in a small amount of spoken word parts towards the end.
CAPA plays mostly a post style of black metal which also adds in elements of doom, sludge, ambient and progressive music which makes the bands musical style have more originality as well as being very diverse, the production has a very dark, raw and heavy sound while the lyrics cover nihilism themes.
In my opinion CAPA are a very great sounding tragic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Cull The Living Flower". 8 out of 10.
