Ordinance are a band from Finland that plays an occult and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Relinquishment" which will be released on September 15th by Ahdistuken Aihio Promotions.
A very dark, melodic and depressive sound starts off the album and a minute later grim vocals are added into the music and a few minutes later the music starts bringing in a mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some black metal screams and blast beats, acoustic guitars are also adding in certain sections of the recording which also bring a progressive feeling to some of the later tracks and they add more diversity to the bands musical style.
The album is divided into 3 different sides that contain 3 tracks each and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording, when the band adds in fast sections the music brings a very 90's orientated raw black metal feeling to the recording and at times the vocals also start to get more dark and ritualistic in certain sections of the recording.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and also sound very different from each other while also always remaining true to a black metal direction, on the second side the music starts adding in a small amount of melodic chants into the background and as the album progresses the band starts utilizing more melodic guitar leads along with a brief solo which they mix in with a raw style of black metal.
Ordinance creates a very diverse sounding album which is mostly rooted in the true and old school style of black metal but done with more melody and small amounts of acoustic guitars which also gives the band more of an occult and ritualistic edge, the production sounds very powerful while still capturing the raw nature of the music while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Ordinance are a very great sounding occult and satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Shadowcast" "Pergrination Unto the Inevitable" and "For Satan My Soul". 8/5 out of 10.
