Sxuperion are a 1 man band from California that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric form of black/death metal on this recording and this is a review of his 2014 album "Through Cosmic Corridors" which was released by Bloody Mountain Records.
A very dark and ambient sound starts off the album along with some drones and after a minute the music starts to get more heavy and melodic along with some death metal growls and you can also hear a decent amount of blast beats being utilized at times and when solos are added into the music they have a very melodic and blackened feeling to them.
There is a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts present throughout the recording along with the guitars bringing in some melody at times along with spoken word samples being added into certain sections of the recording and the ambient and atmospheric parts are mixed in with the heavier parts throughout the recording.
On some of the later tracks the black metal elements of previous recording do make a return at times while the main focus remains more on an atmospheric death metal sound and one of the later tracks brings in a brief use of melodic Gregorian chants while another one brings in a small amount of thunder sounds which are also mixed in with the ambient style synths.
Sxuperion changes the musical style this time around creating more of an atmospheric and ambient style of death metal while you can still hear some black metal elements in the music at times, the production sounds very heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism and Scientific themes.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding album from Sxuperion and if you are a fan of atmospheric black/death metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Purulent Spiritual Intersteller Void" "Advance Matter Drive For Eccleslastical Dust" and "Virulent Arrival Of Demonic Hyper-Space Denomination". 8 out of 10.
