Voices are a band from the United Kingdom that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very extreme form of progressive black metal with a heavy death metal influence and this is a review of their album "London" which will be released in 2015 by Candlelight Records.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the album along with some melodic clean singing vocals a few seconds later and the music also brings in depressing sounding keyboards and on the following track the music starts going into more of a brutal blackened death metal direction along with some blast beats and a mixture of growls and screams and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Throughout the recording the band also mixes the keyboards and clean singing which also brings in a few seconds of female vocals on later tracks with the heavier parts which also gives the music more of an avant garde feeling along with the guitars being very technical, melodic and progressive all at the same time and the songs also bring in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and there are also a good amount of clean sections present throughout the recording which adds in more of an experimental feeling.
When solos and leads are used on the recording they are very melodic and display a great amount of talent and skill and spoken word parts can also be heard at times and on some of the tracks the vocals start mixing in more of a depressive black metal sound while also making the deeper vocals have more of a grim edge and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and a good portion of the later tracks also bring in more acoustic guitars as well some of t he songs mixing in a depressive black metal sound with technical death metal.
Voices creates a very original sounding album this time around adding in depressive black metal with brutal death metal, progressive, experimental and avant garde music to create and album that really stands out and take extreme metal into new directions, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept album based on the more darker and depressive side of living in London.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Voices and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Suicide Note" "Megan" "Last train Victoria Line" and "Cold Harbour Lane". 8/5 out of 10.
