Zamorak are a 1 man band from Fresno, California that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 ep "Immortal Malice" which was released by MisanthropiKVLT.
A very distorted sound starts off the ep before going into a very lo-fi sounding old school black metal direction which also leads to the music speeding up adding in fast and raw tremolo picking along with some high pitched screams and programmed blast bears and the music also brings in a lot of Finnish black metal influences.
At times open note melodies can be heard in certain sections of the recording and they bring in more of a dark atmosphere to the songs they are utilized on and all of the songs are heavily rooted in the 90's sound and when solos are added into the music briefly they give the song more of a melodic black metal sound and the rest of the ep sticks to a very fast and raw sound as well as never slowing down.
Zamorak plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw and old school sounding while also adding in evil melodies to the song structures and there is never a slow or soft moment to be heard anywhere on this ep, the production has a very dark and raw sound while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Christian, Darkness, War and Anti Human themes.
In my opinion Zamorak are a very great sounding raw black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Christian Holocaust" and "No Longer Human". 8 out of 10.
