Mystic Rites are a solo project from Poland that plays a very raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2014 ep "Grin As The Jewell Kingdom Falls".
A very dark and ritualistic sound starts off the ep along with some distorted guitars a few seconds later as well as some grim screams which also bring in spoken word parts at times kicking in a few seconds later which also leads up to more of a heavier and melodic sound and after the intro the more black metal side starts to kick in.
Throughout the recording you can hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some atmospheric elements and dark sounding melodies while the faster sections bring in more of a raw feeling as well as utilizing blast beats and the solos and leads that are utilized are very melodic yet chaotic sounding while some parts also bring in a small amount of growls and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and also bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars at times.
Mystic Rites plays a style of black metal this is dark, dark, raw and occult sounding while also bringing in a decent amount of melody to create a very grim and heavy recording. the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Mystic Rites are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "With Sword, Fire and Satan's Iron Fist" and "Praise be Armageddon". 8 out of 10.
