Massenhinrichtung are a band from Belarus that plays an atmospheric form of pagan/black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Zakon zbroi" which will be released by Darker Than Black Records.
A very dark, atmospheric and epic synth starts off the album bringing in a neo-classical feeling and after the intro melodic guitar leads, atmospheric sounds and grim black metal screams are added into the music along with a few deep growls and you can also hear acoustic guitars are added into certain sections of the recording.
A good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and when solos and leads are utilized they are in a very melodic musical direction and some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of clean singing and death metal growls while some of the epic parts bring in a small amount of folk instruments.
All of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can hear a lot of the mid 90's and early 200's era of black metal in the bands musical style and some of the later tracks also bring in a small amount of angry shouting vocals and acoustic guitars.
Massenhinrichtung plays a style of pagan/black metal that can be very raw at times while also melodic, nationalistic, atmospheric and epic all at the same time as well as adding a touch of classical, folk and death metal into the musical style to create a very original sounding album, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in a mixture of their native tongue and English and cover death, darkness, irreligious, patriotism, history and war themes.
In my opinion Massenhinrichtung are a very great sounding epic and atmospheric pagan/black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Dawn Upon The Bug River" "The Blizzard" and "The Winter Of Belarusian Lands". 8 out of 10.
