MRTVI are a solo project from the United Kingdom that plays a style of black metal that he refers to as 'Negative Atonal Dissonance' and this is a review of his 2015 album "Perpetual Consciousness Nightmare" which will be released in May by Into the Night Records.
Distorted noises starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction along with some blast beats and grim screams which also get high pitched and depressive at times and the music also uses a good amount of melody and avant garde elements and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and at times the music can also be very technical and experimental while clean playing and acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with a small amount of spoken word parts and the band also brings in a few instrumentals onto the recording one of each adds tribal elements to the recording and all of the tracks are very diverse and original as well as adding something new into the black metal genre.
MRTVI creates a style of black metal that mixes the more technical, raw and depressive aspects of the genre together with avant garde and experimental music to create a very original sound, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics are a concept album based on suicide and its 'intermediate stages' which the Buddhists have described.
In my opinion MRTVI are a very great sounding raw and experimental black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "This Shell Is A Miss" "The Unavoidable Conclusion" "Sustained Through Death" and "Perpetual Consciousness Nightmare". 8 out of 10.
