Aegorton are a solo project from the United Kingdom that plays an instrumental mixture of black and doom metal and this is a review of their self released demo "Plaguelord".
Distorted guitar riffs start off the demo along with some drum beats a few seconds later which also leads up to more of a depressive black metal musical direction and the songs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking which also gives the songs more of a raw atmosphere along with the tracks bringing in a great mixture of slow and mid paced parts.
Melodies can be heard in certain sections of the recording and none of the songs ever use any lyrics and vocals and you can also hear the bass guitars in the background at times and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard and the slower sections are very heavily influenced by doom metal and when guitar leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic and there is also a brief use of distorted sound effects while a later track brings in a small amount of acoustic guitars.
Aegorton plays a musical style that takes depressive black metal and mixes it with doom metal and also avoids any use of vocals and lyrics, the production sounds very dark and raw while the theme focuses on the plague in Europe in the middle ages.
In my opinion Aegorton are a very great sounding instrumental mixture of depressive black metal and doom and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Plaguelord" "Raised To The Ground" and "March Of The Pungent Reanimated". 8 out of 10.
