Corpspazm are a band from California that plays a mixture of raw black metal and crust punk with a touch of death/thrash and this is a review of their self released 2015 ep which will be rleeased in October by Broken Limbs Recordings.
A very raw and primal black metal sound starts off the album along with some blast beats and growling vocals that bring in elements of South American death/thrash onto the recording while some of the riffs are very heavily influenced by crust punk and grindcore and there is also a brief use of ritualistic spoken word parts.
Elements of war metal can be heard at times and later songs also show the vocals adding in more screaming vocals and the songs focus mostly on being fast and raw while a small amount of slow and mid paced riffs can be heard at times and towards the end a small amount of melodies, clean playing, solos and leads can be heard briefly and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
Corpspazm plays a musical style that takes a very raw and bestial form of black metal and mixes in influences of crust punk and South American death/thrash to create a style of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death worship, human worthlessness, the paranormal and and the bleakness of our modern existence.
In my opinion Corpspazm are a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal an crust punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bound To Rot" and "Total Carnage". 8 out of 10.
