Akoman are a band from Ukraine that plays a very raw form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2012 album "Ahriman And The Whore Of Darkness" which was released by Satanath Records.
A very fast and raw black metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and after a few seconds later black metal vocals are brought into the music and the riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave tradition.
The vocal approach on this album is a bit different than most bands of the genre and some songs also bring in a great amount of morbid sounding melodies while some of the later tracks bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a couple of the songs are long and epic in length and there is also a brief use of melodic guitar leads as the album progresses and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the last song sees the music getting more ritualistic, tribal, and occult
Akoman plays a style of black metal that is very raw and heavily rooted in the 90's while also bringing in more of a ritualistic yet still grim approach to vocals, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Luciferianism, Ahrimanism, and Occultism themes and also seem to be very inspired by the writings of Michael W. Ford.
In my opinion Akoman are a very great sounding raw, occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ode To Ahriman" "Zohak (Devil's Pact)" and "Yatuk Dinoih". 8/5 out of 10.
