A.H.P are a solo project from Poland that plays a mixture of black metal and ambient and this is a review of his 2016 album "Against Human Plague" which will be released on February 21st by Via Negativa.
A very dark, raw and melodic black metal sound starts off the album and speeds up a few seconds alter and also add in grim yet high pitched screams and blast beats onto the recording and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are very dark and melodic sounding and the guitar riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and the music also brings in synths and a great amount of ambient soundscapes as well as a couple of instrumentals and the album is also perfectly balanced between both black metal and ambient tracks.
There is also a cover of War's "Satan's Millenium" and the heavier tracks also bring in a great amount of second wave influences while also having more of a modern take on the genre and towards the end the music also starts mixing ambient and black metal together along with one of the later songs also adding in a small amount of clean playing.
A.H.P creates an album that takes the rawest black metal and in the beginning follows each heavy song with an ambient interlude while the last quarter of the recording goes fro more of an ambient black metal direction, the production sounds very raw yet heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Darkness and Misanthropic themes.
In my opinion A.H.P are a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal and ambient and if your are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Against Human Plagues" "Unleash The Storms" "Satans Millenium" and "Drowned". 8 out of 10.
