Last Decline are a band from Latvia that plays a very raw and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Escape" which was released by Beverina Productions.
A very dark, melodic and heavy sound starts off the album and once the fast pitched screams kick in t he music starts going into a very fast and raw black metal direction that also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and the fast riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and the songs also bring in melodies at times.
Throughout the whole recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while a great amount of riffing is very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave style and as the album progresses the music starts evoking more of a depressive atmosphere along with a few of the tracks being very long and epic in length and one song also brings in a brie f use of spoken word samples and the music also always remains true to a very heavy, dark and raw musical direction.
Last Decline plays a style of depressive black metal that is more raw, heavy and guitar driven than most bands of this genre going back to the early days of the genre, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, suicide and depression themes.
In my opinion Last Decline are a very great sounding raw and depressive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Process Of Dying" "Blind Mans Dream" "When i Saw Blood on Your Eyes" and " Escape". 8 out of 10.
