Lubbert Das are a band from the Netherlands that has an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 ep "Deluge" which was released by Dunkelheit Produktionen.
Thunder sounds start off the ep and along with distorted reverb a few seconds later that also leads to the guitars kicking in and bringing in more of a raw black metal sound to the music and both of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the vocals use both deep growls and high pitched screams.
Once the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard as well as the guitars utilizing a great amount of tremolo picking and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's second wave style and the songs bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile t he riffs start bringing in more dark sounding melodies and they also manage to be atmospheric with guitars, drums and vocals alone and the last track also brings in a brief use of melodic guitar leads.
Lubert Das creates 2 epic tracks that are very dark, raw and atmospheric while also showing you can ignore modern trends and still be very original, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Armageddon and the end of the world.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Lubbert Das and if you are a fan of raw and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Forlorn Ages". 8 out of 10.
