Absolvtion are a band from France that plays a very bestial form of war/black metal and this is a review of their ep "Obscure Catharsis" which will be released in 2017 by Atavism Records.
War sound s start off the demo before going into a heavier direction which also utilizes a decent amount of morbid sounding melodies and after the intro grim screams are added onto the recording and when the music speeds up bestial growls, blast beats and black metal screams start to make their presence known.
Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also bring a very dark atmosphere to the tracks and some of the songs are long and epic in length and the tremolo picking also gives the music more of a raw feeling and the demo also remains very heavy from beginning to ending of the recording and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and spoken word parts are also used briefly.
Absolvtion plays a bestial style of black/war metal that is very heavy and raw sounding, the production sounds very dark, raw and old school while the lyrics cover dark, hateful, and blasphemous themes.
In my opinion Absolvtion are a very great sounding war metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hammer To Judgement" and "Ruins". 8 out of 10.
