Ghost Horizon are a band from Phoenix, Arizona that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very melodic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 ep "The Erotics Of Disgust" which will be released in April.
Melodic guitar leads and clean playing starts off the ep along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and after awhile the music goes into a heavier direction along with some grim black metal screams while clean singing and elements of post rock can be heard on the recording.
A great amount of melody can be heard in the guitar riffing and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts and the songs stick to mostly a slow or mid paced direction while fast raw tremolo picking and blast beats are added on the last track briefly and also taking the music into a more black metal direction.
On this recording Ghost Horizon keeps the atmospheric black metal style of their previous release while also expanding more on the post rock style this time around, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover loss and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ghost Horizon and if you are a fan of atmospheric post black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Radiant Eyes" and "This Forever Flow". 8 out of 10.
