Nephilim's Howl are a band from Finland that plays a mid tempo form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Through The Marrow Of Human Suffering" which will be released in May by I, Voidhanger Records.
Distorted amp sounds start off the album along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful while a brief use of saxophones can also be heard and clean singing can also be heard briefly before evolving into more of a grim black metal screaming style.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and they also mix the black metal vocal in with the melodic style at times and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very dark fashion while also mixing in a decent amount of melody which they also mix in the riffing as well and synths and percussion are also used briefly and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music a more raw feeling while the main focus is mostly on a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Nephilim's Howl plays a style of black metal that is very mid tempo while also being very original and different at the same time, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover existential themes.
In my opinion Nephilim's Howl are a very great sounding mid tempo black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Of Ordeals And Triumph" and "Against The Worlds That Bind Us". 8 out of 10.
