Dodsritual are a band from Norway that plays a very ritualistic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Under Sort Sol" which will be released on April 25th by Black Market Metal Label.
Ritualistic style keyboards start off the album along with a variety of many different sounding keys and also mixes in with the heavier and more melodic side of the music while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and you can also hear a great amount of melody in the guitar leads.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs a more raw black metal feeling while the vocals also have there depressive moments along with a brief use of spoken word parts and when t he music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when melodic vocals are utilized they give the music a more avant garde touch and some tracks also bring in a small amount of stringed instruments and spoken word samples are also used briefly and the last track is very long and epic in length.
Dodsritual plays a musical style that takes the raw, depressive, melodic, occult and avant garde styles of black metal and mixes them together to create a very diverse recording, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and Norwegian cover Occultism and Anti Christian themes.
In my opinion Dodsritual are a very great sounding ritualistic black metal band and if you are looking for something different, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lost In The Remains" "Venomtongue" "The Visitor" and "Dark Hole". 8/5 out of 10.
