Blaze Of Sorrow are a band from Italy that plays an atmospheric form of black metal with touches of folk music and this is a review of their 2017 album "Astri" which will be released in June by Eisenwald.
A very heavy and atmospheric sound along with melodic guitar leads start off the album along with the riffs also using a great amount of melody and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile grim black metal screams start to make their presence known.
A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length while some of the riffing also adds in a touch of classic metal and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while clean playing is also utilized at times and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion.
At times when synths are utilized they give the songs a more atmospheric and psychedelic edge while the acoustic guitars when they are utilized add in elements of folk music and spoken word parts are also used briefly and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses accordions can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while there is also a brief use of guitar slides and they close the album with an instrumental track.
Blaze Of Sorrow plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric while also having some progressive, psychedelic and folk music touches, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Italian cover nature and inner self themes.
In my opinion Blaze Of Sorrow are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band with touches of folk music and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Oracolo" "Empito" and "Io, Nessuno". 8 out of 10.
