Heir are a band from France that plays a mixture of post black metal and sludge and this is a review of their 2017 album "Au Peuple de L'Abime" which was released by Les Acteurs De L'Ombre Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the music being mostly grim black metal screams and sludge elements are also added into the slower sections of the songs.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a decent amount of post metal elements while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody as well as clean guitars also being added into certain sections of the recording and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length, when guitar leads are utilized they also bring in a great amount of melody and as the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts can be heard and melodic chants are also added onto the closing track.
Heir plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in post black metal while also giving the genre more of a raw touch along with some elements of sludge to create something different, the production sound s very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover desolation themes.
In my opinion Heir are a very great sounding mixture of post black metal and sludge and if you are a fan of those musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Au Siecle Des Siecles" and "Cendres". 8 out of 10.
