Profundum are a band from Texas that plays and epic and ambient mixture of black, death and funeral doom metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Come, Holy Death" which will be released in autumn by Heathen Tribes.
A very fast and raw black metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking while the synths gives the songs more of an epic feeling as well as adding symphonic elements onto the recording which are more rooted in the 90's Norwegian style.
Vocals a re a mixture of grim black metal screams and deep death metal growls while the slower sections of the songs are heavily rooted in funeral doom metal and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music also incorporates a great amount of ambient elements.
Profundum plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in black metal while also adding in some death, funeral doom metal, symphonic and ambient elements to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and metaphysical themes.
In my opinion Profundum are a very great sounding epic mixture of black, death and funeral doom metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sentient Shadows" "Storms Of Uncreation" and "Illuminating The Abyss". 8 out of 10.
