Coatl are a band from Mexico that plays a raw mixture of black metal, thrash and punk and this is a review of their 2017 demo "Clerheretico" which was released by Atavism Records.
Nature orientated soundscapes start off the demo along with some powerful sounding bass guitars which also leads to a heavier direction while the solos and leads a re done in a very melodic and old school fashion and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs a more raw feeling.
A great amount of thrash, d beat and punk elements can be heard in the bands musical style while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and growls can also be heard briefly.
Coatl plays a musical style that takes a very raw form of black metal and mixes it with thrash and punk to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover anti political themes.
In my opinion Coatl are a very great sounding raw mixture of black metal, thrash and punk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Peste Morena" and "Clerheretico". 8 out of 10.
