This is a review of a split ep between Italy's Sedna and Postvorta which was released by Drown Within Records and we will start off the review with Sedna a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of post black metal and sludge.
Their side of the split starts out with raw tremolo picking along with some angry black metal screams a few seconds later while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them as well as the music incorporating elements of sludge and post metal.
A decent amount of melodic leads can also be heard while the track is very long and epic in length and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts along with a small amount of blast beats when the music speeds up, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Sedna and if you are a fan of post black metal and sludge, you should check out their side of the split.
Next up is Postvorta a band that plays a mixture of sludge and post metal with some black metal touches.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy sludge and doom metal sound while angry screams and shouts are added into the music a few seconds later along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody.
Growls can also be heard at times while the track is very long and epic in length while clean post rock style playing can be heard briefly along with the song also always sticking to a very slow style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Postvorta and if you are a fan of post and sludge metal, you should check out their side of the split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and would recommend it to all f ans of black, post and sludge metal. 8 out of 10.
